VIRTUS Data Centres is bringing forward an outline planning application for a new data centre campus in Sipson.

Our proposals

The project comprises:

  • A 54-megawatt data centre
  • A high-quality and sensitive design to reduce perceived scale, with screening to reduce visual impact on neighbouring properties
  • New landscaping and green buffers around the site, including new trees, hedgerows, wildflowers and the creation of habitats
  • Office space to support skilled operational and maintenance jobs

This is an outline planning application, meaning all design details are indicative of a potential future detailed planning application, so are subject to change.

More information on our outline plans is available by viewing the exhibition boards below:

What is a data centre and why are they important?

A data centre is a building that contains lots of computers and equipment used to store, process and manage digital information. They support the online services we use every day, such as websites, emails, cloud storage and video streaming.

Consultation is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated.
